Building Trades National Drug and Alcohol Program

Mission Statement

The goal of the Building Trades National Drug & Alcohol Program is to provide a pre-qualified, drug-free workforce to our customers. This Program resulted from the combined efforts of labor and management, and their shared commitment to maximize jobsite safety, eliminate duplicate testing, and generate significant time and cost savings for the benefit of contractors, unions and our customers.

The Program creates a nationwide pool of pre-tested workers, who are pre-qualified to work on job sites with substance abuse testing requirements. The Program recognizes an employee test performed within the last 12 months as a valid pre-employment test. Standardized procedures and a shared eligibility pool enable a member's current test to serve as a valid pre-employment test for one or many contractors and keep workers who are not in the eligibility pool from working on projects with drug testing requirements. The Program is administered by an independent third party administrator, which coordinates all program testing and enforces the Program requirements.
